Retrieval of the Stratospheric Density by the Star Occultation

The navigation by the stellar refraction is important for a LEO (Low-Earth-Orbit) satellite, especially in GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-denied environment, since it totally autonomous. However, biggest barrier to accurate lies stratospheric density. Therefore, retrieval of density star occultation proposed this paper acquire globally with high accuracy. Compared GPS Positioning System) radio occultation, can achieve vertical resolution. first derived principle. Then, performance retrieval, including spatial resolution, atmospheric attenuation, and accuracy, was investigated detail. also comprehensively verified simulations. simulation results prove that similar accuracy but has higher resolution than which good improving refraction.
